Simple Rectangle Blanket

This is an inspiration post rather than a formal crochet pattern. It is based on The ‘Even Better’ Granny Rectangle – I adjusted the starting chain to make a longer rectangle and just added more and more rounds, so it really is a demonstration of one idea that you can make with The ‘Even Better’ Granny Rectangle motif pattern.
I started this Simple Rectangle Blanket for two reasons: I wanted to crochet mindlessly in the evenings whilst in-between bigger design projects, and I also had some left over yarn scraps from other projects that I wanted to use up.
So here we have the Simple Rectangle Blanket – an easy crochet blanket with no complicated stitch counts, only basic UK treble crochet, UK double crochet and chain stitches and simple repetitive rounds.
This design is all about comfortโboth in the making and in the snuggling.
Whether youโre crocheting on the sofa after a long day or bringing your WIP along for a weekend getaway, this blanket travels well and works up beautifully with minimal thought.
This blanket is based on myย Even Better Granny Rectangle, an updated version of my originalย Rectangle Granny design.

A Note About Materials
I love how this design works with nearly any yarn weight, but it especially shines with double knit, aran or chunky yarns. You can make this in a single solid colour for a modern, minimalist look, or mix up your favourite hues in stripes for a more colourful effect.
I wanted to use up some leftover part balls of Stylecraft Special DK in the following colours: Pistachio, Lime, Nigella, Sherbet, Cornish Blue, Wisteria, Lavender and Bluebell.
I used a 4mm crochet hook.
Instructions
Follow The ‘Even Better’ Granny Rectangle Pattern, but make the starting chain 29 (as this is a longer base rectangle with 10 treble clusters along the long sides).

I randomly selected my colour order, and continued adding more and more rounds until I ran out of yarn. I completed a total of 34 rounds.
