Finishing the Mini Crochet Squares Blanket

A few weeks ago I posted details on how to make the Mini Crochet Squares and a tutorial on how to join them using the join-as-you-go method. As this design was created to be used as a perfect stash-buster – have now finished a blanket using these squares and have managed to use up a bit of my yarn stash.

I am really pleased with the result – 196 squares in a 14 by 14 formation. I have also added a really nice Half-Treble V-Stitch Border onto it too.

Video for the Modern Crochet Rectangle

Video for the Modern Crochet Rectangle has now been published and available on Youtube – this short video tutorial outlines how to make the Modern Crochet Rectangle, which is a variation of a Granny Rectangle. Easy to make and suitable for beginners, these rectangles can be part of a bigger practical project.

I am not very good at making video tutorials and working hard to improve this, as I know many people like to have a video tutorial. I still do not have the confidence to speak on my videos – hopefully this is something that I will start to overcome. Hopefully some people will find this video helpful.

Starting a new squares blanket design

I seem to have been working on this new project for ages, but I thought I would give you an update on where I have got to so far.

I started with these colours from the Stylecraft Special DK range – Pistachio, Meadow, Fuchsia Purple, Lemon, Blush, Pale Rose. I used hook size 4mm.

The pattern I used is a variation of the Granny Square, but the concept would just as easily work with the traditional Granny Square.

I have decided to use a contrast colour to make the bright colours ‘pop’.

Anyway, the update is that I am on the last few squares and will soon by looking to join the squares…..how do you think I should join these?

Cosy Rectangle Blanket Pattern

Over the past couple of weeks I have been working on the Cosy Rectangle Blanket. It is a wonderfully soft and squishy blanket, thanks to the stitch combination.

The pattern is easy to follow but it is worth noting that I adjusted the number of stitches in each round so that the blanket lay flat and the corners were beautifully square.

Essentially each round is one of two rounds (either a round 4 or a round 5 repeat). The stripes are made up of two rounds of each colour. The written pattern is available here.

I am currently working on a video tutorial for this Cosy Rectangle Blanket and I am hoping to release this soon

The Crossed Stitch Granny Square Blanket – full pattern and video now available

I am pleased to finally publish the pattern for my Crossed Stitch Granny Square Blanket. The full free written pattern can be found here.

In addition to the free written pattern, there is also a video tutorial to help you with making the Crossed Stitch Granny Square. A video for joining and the border is on its way soon.

Violet Blanket Pattern

My Violet Blanket is finished! Pattern and further details now available free here. Perfect for a stash-buster or to have fun with different colour combinations.

This pattern uses the same stitch and principles as my Rainforest Blanket. It is work practising the join-as-you-go slip stitch join, but once you get the hang of this it is super easy and relaxing
