The Pink Blanket

LoveCrafts

This project started off as a mission to use up some of my Stylecraft Special DK scraps (all leftovers from other projects).

I narrowed it down to these five colours: Fondant, Lavender, Clematis, Magenta and Sherbet.

You can purchase this yarn here.

My ‘go-to’ pattern is always the traditional granny square, so I just got making! You can find tutorials of how to make the granny square on YouTube. For this project I did one chain in each corner and no chains between the groups of trebles (uk terms), but this is personal preference. I used hook size 3.5mm.

Round 4.
Round 5 & 6
  • I made a three different square combinations.
  • Square A – Magenta, Sherbet, Fondant, Lavender and Clematis (9 squares)
  • Square B – Clematis, Fondant, Lavender, Sherbet and Magenta (8 squares)
  • Square C – Lavender, Clematis, Sherbet, Magenta and Fondant (8 squares)
  • A total of 25 squares.
  • For Round 6 I used Cream for all of the squares.
All 25 squares completed. I decided on how the squares were to be arranged.

I joined the squares using a continuous ‘join-as-you-go’ method, but I tried to do it differently from before. Instead of going with a slip stitch going under the square, I tried to join with a slip stitch by going into the square from above. It took much longer doing it this way but the work appears much flatter.

Once the squares were all joined I decided to add a simple border. I was guided by how much yarn I had left from the colours I started with, but you could use any you like.
