Half Granny Squares are very useful to be able to make. If you spin your Granny Squares so that the corners are in the north, south, east and west positions of your project then you will need to make half and quarter Granny Squares to make the work have straight edges.
I had to make half Granny Squares for these projects:
Notes on the Granny Squares
The Granny Square uses groups of treble crochet to form ‘treble clusters’. The same principles apply to making half Granny Squares This pattern has one chain stitch in the corner, but you can adapt this to have 2 or 3 chain stitches in each corner. The pattern also suggests you turn the work over after each round – I find this helps to keep the work even and it also makes the work reversible.
