This modern take on the crochet Granny Square Blanket was a delight to design and make. This is a blanket based on rectangles, but a modern updated rectangle design with each rectangle using a single colour, creating a contemporary feel. You can find the full free pattern for the blanket here.
This is an easy pattern, suitable for beginners. You can have fun with your colour palette, creating all sorts of stunning combinations.
Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on another crochet rectangle design. I was inspired to create a modern crochet blanket and had a colour scheme in mind. I had some fun trying to modify my Rectangle Granny Design into something that looked contemporary. This is the result.
I was really pleased with how the rectangle design turned out, I will let you have the pattern free on this blog soon.
Once I have finished making all of the rectangles, then on to joining them. More updates soon (or check out my instagram page as some real-time updates are provided).
I have had such fun with this project. I was inspired by a patchwork quilt design and wanted to see if I could replicate the rustic feel with crochet Granny Squares. I chose some wonderful Stylecraft Special DK colours and had such fun creating different colour Granny Squares.
I had a layout in my mind and wanted the Granny Squares to be ‘spun’ round 90 degrees. This also meant that I had to make done quarter and half Granny Squares too.
My one word of warning about this project is the number of ends to sew in – there were loads!
I hopefully will update on the finished throw soon – I am currently writing up details of the design. But if you can’t wait….then please visit my instagram profile, as I have posted a picture.
This blanket has definitely been one of my favourite makes. I just adore the beautiful colours and the simplicity of the single colour Granny Squares means that this is a wonderfully relaxing blanket to make. You can find out how to make this blanket here.
I absolutely loved making this Coffee Time Throw. I love the mix of browns and pinks – and best of all they remind me of a lovely relaxing cup of coffee. The patterns is based on the traditional Granny Square. You can find the pattern/details here.
Well I have finally finished my Granny Hexagon Blanket. As promised, I have now provided details on how I make crochet Granny Hexagons, half hexagons and quarter hexagons – please find the pattern/details here.
My next task is to write up a few more details on how I put my Granny Hexagon blanket together. More updates soon.
