Rainbow Baby Blanket

This week I decided to work with some colour. I was travelling so I wanted something easy to do. I just love these colours. You can find out more about how to make this blanket here.

The patterns is a traditional granny square based on 6 rainbow colours.

My blanket finished 80cm x 80cm but you can adapt to how big or small you want it.

This is a super easy blanket to make. Suitable for a beginner. It is based on a traditional granny square

I have described how I make my granny squares elsewhere on my blog here. I flip my work over after each round. I did 1 chain in each corner and no chains between the treble clusters

I used 6 balls of Stylecraft Special DK in total (in fact I had some left at the end). One 100g ball of each of Pomegranate, Shrimp, Saffron, Pistachio, Turquoise and Magenta. You can purchase this yarn here.

I used a 3.5mm (this is my favourite hook for this yarn as it makes the holes between the trebles quite small). If you use a different hook then your work will probably be a slightly different size. This is personal preference and will also be affected by your tension (how tight you pull each stitch).

I used the colours in this order: Magenta, Turquoise, Pistachio, Saffron, Shrimp and Pomegranate; and repeated them until I had completed 42 rounds, and then instead of tying off the last round of pomegranate I repeated another round of pomegranate and then used pomegranate again for a final row of double crochet.

My blanket finished approximately 80cm x 80cm.
