Champagne Scarf

The Champagne Scarf is a wonderfully easy crochet scarf to make. The two row repeat creates a lovely stitch definition. The pattern can be easily adapted to make it longer or shorter and thinner or wider. This is suitable for beginners.

Crocheted scarves can be manageable and quick projects and make thoughtful and heartfelt gifts for friends and family.

Equipment

Crochet Hook: 5mm (US H/8) or size needed to achieve gauge

Yarn: Aran weight yarn 300g. This sample uses Paintbox Simply Aran in Champagne White (202) 3 x 100g.

Notions: Scissors, needle to weave in ends

175cm x 19cm (excluding tassels) (69in x 7.5in), 2m x 19cm (including tassels) (79in x 7.5in)

Notes on the pattern

This pattern uses a two row repeat.

The turning chain at the start of each row counts as a stitch. The first true stitch of each row should be inserted into the top of the second stitch from the row below.

Different Sizes

Remember you will need to adjust the yarn quantities if making the scarf longer or wider.

Adjusting the Length: To make the length of the scarf longer or shorter you must adjust the number of stitches in the starting chain. Any number plus 1 for the starting chain. The sample had a starting chain of 205 (204+1) and measured a length of 175cm (69in) (without the tassels).

Adjusting the Width: To make the width of the scarf wider or narrower you must adjust the number of completed rows as per pattern. The sample measured 19cm (7.5in) in width which was worked in 26 rows.

Instructions

Foundation Row: Chain 205 (any number +1 for starting chain) for approximately a length of 175cm (excluding tassels). Adjust the number of chains in the foundation row if you desire a longer or shorter scarf.

Row 1. Dc in second chain from the hook. Dc all the way along to the end. Turn.

Row 2. ch2 (counts as 1st HBhtr), HBhtr in 2nd stitch and all the way along to the end (ensuring that a HBhtr is inserted in the last stitch/turning chain). Turn.
