Arranging Crochet Rectangles

After a busy couple of weeks with work and family life, I finally found some time this week to work on arranging my Granny Square to Rectangle motifs.

Although the motifs started out as individual samples, I recently decided to turn them into a blanket. That meant plenty of time spent laying rectangles out on the floor and experimenting with different arrangements.

If you haven’t seen the pattern yet, you can find it here:

This stage involved a lot of laying rectangles out on the floor, standing back, and then moving them around again!

This was my first attempt.

I liked it, but it felt a little too busy, and the colours seemed to compete with each other.

Next, I tried grouping some of the colour pairings together to create more flow across the blanket.

After a lot of rearranging, I’m much happier with this direction. The colours feel more balanced while still keeping the patchwork look I was aiming for.

The next step is joining everything together, which is always the exciting part when a project starts to feel like a finished blanket.

Now on to joining!
